Norma Pimenta Books make great Christmas gifts and/or stocking stuffers

Any cheerleader current or alumni can relate to the struggles and challenges of my cheerleading teams. However my journey as a coach is interrupted by a very bizarre accident and my story becomes inspirational as you read about my struggles and challenges in the year of recovery and how I return to coaching while still healing a very injured body. This memoir goes through two generations of cheerleading coach's in one family and three generations of very strong and determined women. SmilinContinue

Laura Eilers HANDS IN THE AIR: IS FITNESS YOUR PRIORITY?

Wow! If you're busy this time of year, raise your hand. If you have trouble finding time to work out, raise your other hand. So now that both of your hands are in the air, touch your toes 20 times. Go! While at the salon the other day, I overheard some ladies chatting about how difficult it is to stay in shape with the day-to-day hustle of transporting children, getting dinner on the table, and managing their own careers. Yet, these women somehow were able to fit i… Continue

Laura Eilers CHOOSE YOUR FOOD, DON'T LET YOUR FOOD CHOOSE YOU

I'm 30 and single. This is because my parents always taught me to choose my spouse, don't let my spouse choose me. Oftentimes in relationships, I think men and women reach an age where they feel they SHOULD be settling down, and the next partner to come along who seems to have the right qualities inevitably ends up fitting the need. Laura Eilers WOULD YOU LIKE EMPTY CALORIES WITH THAT?

On the weekends, I usually stop by Panera/St Louis Bread Company for a few hours to get some concentrated work finished and enjoy a cup of coffee. Today while standing at the register, $1.87 in hand for my hazelnut coffee, I immediately felt my sweet tooth kick in. Why would this happen? Could it be because of the sign right under my nose saying “Would you like a cookie with that? Just $.99!” Since when does it makes sense to just add a cookie to your meal? What about adding an apple, so… Continue

Laura Eilers BECAUSE I CAN - August Fitness and Nutrition

When I took a year off from NFL cheerleading, I slept in on Saturdays when my former teammates were waking up early for practice. Why? Because I could. When I no longer had to autograph calendars, I cut my nails and let the polish chip. Why? Because I could. When I no longer had to wear that little bitty uniform, I indulged a little more at my favorite restaurants. Why? Because I could. When I no longer had to endure a four hour game in 90 degree heat, I gave up cardio wo… Continue
